Pavers are a varied landscape element in terms of shape, but some of the most common ones are standard square and rectangular pavers. We offer several paver shapes in which you can use to form your own patterns including, circle kits, octagon kits, and diamond kits.

For square and rectangular pavers we offer, typical sizes include 8” x 8”, 12”x 12”, and 24” x 24”. These are nominal thickness due to the random surface textures of each paver. Contact us about the range of thickness, which applies to the pavers that you are most interested in.

Mildew grows on surfaces that are kept cool and moist over an extended period of time. Pavers are more resistant to mildew as the surface retains water less than that of other pavement surfaces. Use a waterproof sealer and power washer to keep mildew from showing up. On the other hand, some customers find this to add a rustic appeal to their pavers and actually encourage its growth.

For the most part, if the pavers are installed properly and a compactor was used on the pavers to lock them into place, you have cut off much of the growing environment. There will still be times when seeds can blow in and start growing in the sand between the cracks. When this happens, you can usually pull them out very easily or spray them with a weed killer and remove them. Sealing the pavers also helps prevent vegetation growth.

Yes, you can be rest assured of the replacement of your pavers by keeping extras from when the job was completed. When replacing a paver, scrape out the sand in the joints that surround the paver that needs to be removed. Use two screwdrivers to wiggle the paver out. Others can be removed by hand. Insert the new paver, replace the joint sand, and compact the paver into place with a rubber mallet.

Residential driveway pavers require a minimum 2 3/8″ thickness. As long as the crushed stone base is a minimum of 8″- 10″ thick and compacted correctly over a stable sub-base. For heavy vehicles it is recommended to a use a paver that is 3 1/8″ thick and increase the depth of the stone base.
